Epic Universe With Kids in One Day

Yes, you can do Epic Universe in one day with kids, but not every long line. At typical waits, Mine-Cart Madness, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry and Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge add up to about 4 hours of standing in line (246 minutes) in a park day that most often runs 10 hours. Pick two or three big rides, go at their shorter hours, and fill the rest of the day with the shorter lines.

How to fit the day

Check heights before you pick

A kid under 40 inches misses the biggest lines anyway. At 34 inches, Yoshi’s Adventure opens up. Universal’s Epic Universe rider guide lists no minimum for Constellation Carousel or Fyre Drill.

Save the long lines for the evening

Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge averages about 86 minutes at its peak and about 26 at 7 PM. Mine-Cart Madness and Battle at the Ministry are also shortest at 7 PM, though still over an hour.

Use the morning for the rides that start short

Curse of the Werewolf, Stardust Racers and Monsters Unchained are at their shortest at 10 AM, so they suit the first hour.

Count the walks

Every world opens off Celestial Park. The plan counts the walk between worlds when it orders your rides, so the day does not zigzag across the park.

Plan for kids of different heights

With two or more adults, when a kid is too short for a ride, Kid Charter can send one adult and that kid to something that fits the wait while the others ride.

Early entry depends on your hotel

On many dates eligible Universal hotel guests can enter before the posted open. When your hotel qualifies, the plan starts your day at early entry.

Questions

Is one day enough for Epic Universe with kids?

One day is enough for two or three big rides plus the shorter lines. It is not enough to ride everything at typical waits: Mine-Cart Madness, Battle at the Ministry and Mario Kart alone average 246 minutes of standby.

What can a 40 inch kid ride at Epic Universe?

At 40 inches: Mine-Cart Madness, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, Curse of the Werewolf, Hiccup’s Wing Gliders and Yoshi’s Adventure. Stardust Racers, Monsters Unchained and Dragon Racer’s Rally need 48 inches. Check Universal’s official site before you go.

What is the best time of day for Epic Universe with kids?

In our wait history, most of the long lines are shortest at 7 PM, the last hour of the park’s most common day, and three rides are shortest at 10 AM. That leaves the middle of the day for meals and shorter lines.

What does a plan for our Epic Universe day cost?

You can start with a free first day, no credit card: one park day planned in full. A Per Trip plan is $14.99 once for one trip. The Planner Pass is $34.99 a year, billed yearly, for unlimited trips.
